Eliot P. Kaplan, PhD, LCSW, CAS offers on-site daylong training seminars for mental health programs regarding the theory and treatment of anger / rage and addressing Problem Sexualized Behaviors (PSB). Training is also available in understanding the power and significance of Paradox Psychology. Special emphasis will be placed on the theory and practice to undo resistance toward change. (These programs can also be tailored toward business and corporate professionals in an effort to promote better cooperation in the workplace.)

Dr. Kaplan is an experienced presenter, and conducts his trainings in a relaxed and straightforward style. Through the use of a Power Point presentation, actual intervention video clips, and role plays, he keeps his audience alert and involved.

Dr. Kaplan is the founder and director of The Paradox Psychology Institute (www.ParadoxPsychology.com) and has experience with a wide range of difficult and volatile type behaviors. He has most recently worked with adolescents exhibiting Problem Sexualized Behavior (PSB), and authored a chapter on "Paradoxical Interventions with the Treatment Resistant Offender" in The Sex Offender - Volume 6 (2008) Civic Research Institute (CRI) Publishers.

For some clinicians dealing with volatile anger or PSB behaviors may seem like a very difficult and daunting task. Many believe that the nature of these types of problems, even in youthful adolescents, may indicate attitudes and behavior so entrenched that there is little hope for their future. As a result, clinicians often feel intimidated by the apparent complexity and enormity of the issues involved. Along with the issues of treatment, clinicians often worry if it possible to be confident in evaluating when it is safe and appropriate to terminate treatment.

The purpose of these trainings is to help clarify and simplify the theory and process of change. By gaining insight in knowing how to work with those considered the 'most difficult', participants simultaneously gain insight in addressing treatment resistance in clients exhibiting 'lesser disorders' related to anxiety / depression, and addiction / compulsive behaviors.
